title = {Causal Relationships Between Emotional Intelligence and Suicidal Ideation in Adolescents: Evaluating the Mediating Role of Finding Meaning in Life and Perceived Social Support},
abstract ={Objective: The present study was conducted to explain the causal relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and suicidal ideation (SI) in adolescents living in state welfare organizations (SWO) with the mediating role of finding meaning in life and perceived social support (PSS). Methods: The sample included 320 adolescents living in Tehran’s SWO, selected by multistage cluster sampling and participating in the research. The current research was descriptive and correlational (using structural equation modeling [SEM]). The data were collected using the EIscale, the meaning in life questionnaire (MLQ), and the multidimensional scale of perceived social support (MSPSS) and were analyzed using SPSS software, version 22 and Amos software, version 24. Results: The results showed that the model fits the collected data (χ2/df=2.37, comparative fit index [CFI]=0.957, goodness fit index [GFI]=0.920, adjusted GFI [AGFI]=0.881, and root mean square error of approximation [RMSEA]=0.066). Direct path coefficient (PC) between EI (β=0.177, P>0.01), finding meaning in life (β=0.311, P>0.01), and PSS (β=0.427, P>0.01) with SI was negative and significant. The indirect PC between EI (β=-0.101, P=0.001) and finding meaning in life (β=0.111, P=0.001) with SI was negative and significant. Conclusion: The structural model of the research was the same in terms of fit with the data of two groups of girls and boys. Adolescents living in SWO are more vulnerable to suicide due to their unique experiences. Finding meaning in life, higher EI and social connections can reduce SI in adolescents and act as protective factors.},

title = {The Mediating Role of Spirituality and Personal Values Between Personality Dimensions and Death Anxiety in the Elderly},
abstract ={Objective: The present study aims to formulate a model of death anxiety (DA) in the elderly living in nursing homes based on personal values (PV) and spirituality and with the mediating role of gender. Methods: The present research was conducted using correlational method and path analysis. The statistical population included all the elderly living in private nursing homes in Tehran City, Iran, in the summer and autumn of 2023, of which 340 people were selected by the convenience sampling method. During one session and individually, the participants responded to the Templer DA scale (DAS) (1970), Schwartz’s value survey, the spiritual questionnaire, and the HEXACO personality inventory-revised. Results: The results showed that the total path coefficient (PC) between PV (β=-0.211, P=0.001) and spirituality (β=-0.192, P=0.001) were significant with DA. Indirect PC of extraversion (P=0.001, β=-0.054), conscientiousness (β=-0.058, P=0.001), humility (P=0.049, β=-0.023) and emotionality (P=0.001, β=0.038) were significant with DA. The indirect PC between PV (P=0.001, β=0.037) and spirituality (P=0.001, β=0.060) with DA was negative and significant. Therefore, DA mediates the relationship between personality dimensions (PDs), PV, and spirituality. The research model was different in terms of fit with the data of two groups of women and men. Conclusion: Multiple psychological mechanisms can predict DA in the elderly.},

title = {The Effectiveness of Family-based Behavior Therapy on Behavioral Excesses of Children With Autism Via Telehealth},
abstract ={Objective: Family-based interventions are considered evidence-based approaches to reduce behavioral excesses for autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Due to some barriers to the delivery of these interventions for families living in underserved areas, innovative models, such as telehealth, should be investigated. Telehealth can also be an effective method to deliver interventions to immigrant families. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effectiveness and feasibility of family-based management of behavioral excesses of autism program (FMBEAP) via telehealth in Iranian families. Methods: Fourteen parents of children with ASD (mean age of 38.14±9.42 months) participated in an intervention with pre-, post, and -follow-up design. These families received a 10-week group intervention via telehealth. A range of outcome measures was collected on three occasions (pre and post-intervention and one-month follow-up) to evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, and efficacy of FMBEAP via telehealth. Results: The results indicated that high and low-order behavioral excesses were significantly decreased in the post-test and follow-up stages. A total of 12 out of 14 children achieved recovery or high recovery at the end of the intervention. Also, parents reported a significant improvement in parenting self-efficacy. The program was acceptable to parents, evidenced by an 82.15 satisfaction rate and 86% attainment of session goals. Conclusion: These results suggest that telehealth can be used to implement FMBEAP with acceptable fidelity and to attain substantial reductions in behavioral excesses in children with ASD.},

title = {The Role of Emotional Granularity in Vulnerability to Post-traumatic Stress Disorder},
abstract ={Objective: Emotional granularity refers to the ability to recognize and distinguish between different emotional states, allowing individuals to respond appropriately to situations and manage their emotions more effectively. One of the main problems in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is the lack of clarity and emotional awareness that causes vulnerability to PTSD and the persistence of its symptoms. The present study aims to investigate the role of emotional granularity in vulnerability to PTSD. Methods: The present study used a descriptive and correlational research design. The statistical population included PTSD patients referred to Roozbeh Hospital. The sample size of the research was 205 people. To collect data, the Mississippi scale for PTSD, positive and negative affect schedule (PANAS), difficulties in emotion regulation scale, and semantic similarities test were used. Also, multiple regressions were used to analyze data using SPSS software, version 26. Results: The components of emotional granularity explain 32.7% of PTSD variance. Among the components of emotional granularity, the components of positive affect (β=-0.312), and semantic similarities (β=-0.379) had significant and inverse effects (P<0.01) on PTSD. Also, components of negative emotion (β=0.304), lack of emotional clarity (β=0.382), and lack of emotional awareness (β=0.362) had a significant and direct effect (P<0.01) on PTSD. Conclusion: Emotional granularity is one of the essential factors in predicting vulnerability to PTSD because high emotional granularity is associated with greater clarity, awareness, and emotional differentiation. Low emotional granularity is associated with a need for more differentiation and emotional clarity and as a result, expressing emotions in the form of vocabulary. },

abstract ={Objective: Multiple sclerosis (MS) can become a significant challenge due to its high comorbidity with mood and anxiety disorders. Despite extensive research on psychological symptoms in MS, the role of transdiagnostic protective factors, demographic variables, and the interplay between these factors have received less attention. This study aimed to investigate the interaction between psychological symptoms, transdiagnostic factors, and demographic variables in patients with MS. Methods: Data were collected and analyzed from 154 patients with MS. The participants completed the demographic data form, Yale-Brown obsessive-compulsive scale, Beck depression inventory-II (BDI-II), generalized anxiety disorder-7 scale, the difficulties in emotion regulation scale, and Connor-Davidson resilience scale (CDRS). Path analyses were performed using the lavaan package in R software. Results: The findings indicate that a higher age at MS onset and longer disease duration are directly associated with increased depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) symptoms, as well as patients’ perception of disability (PDS). Additionally, resilience negatively and difficulties in emotion regulation positively contributed to more severe symptoms of depression OCD and anxiety. Through the mediating role of depression, resilience and difficulties in emotion regulation are indirectly associated with a milder and more severe PDS, respectively. Conclusion: The results highlight the importance of demographic characteristics, particularly the role of disease duration in the development of depression, as well as the impact of depression on patients’ PDS. Moreover, the protective role of resilience and the detrimental role of difficulties in emotion regulation underscores the need for targeted psychological interventions in MS rehabilitation.},

title = {Effectiveness of Cognitive-behavioral Therapy on the Psychological Security and Self-care Behaviors among Diabetes Patients},
abstract ={Objective: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic disease that increases the possibility of mental disorders due to physical problems. Therefore, psychological interventions such as diabetes self-care activities (DSCA) can probably create positive changes in the psychological activity indicators. Also, therapists have focused on improving these patients’ psychological security (PS). Group cognitive-behavioral therapy (GCBT) is a common method for improving PS and DSCA. Methods: This quasi-experimental research aimed to explore the effectiveness of GCBT on the PS and DSCA in patients with T2DM. It was conducted with a pre-test -post-test design and a control group on 30 elderly female diabetic patients during the summer of 2023. The convenience sampling method was implemented to select subjects. They were randomly assigned into two groups (test and control) of 15 subjects. We used Maslow’s psychosocial security questionnaire and the self-care behavior questionnaire by Robert Thompson and Glasgow to collect study data. Results: The results of the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) indicated that GCBT significantly increased the PS and the DSCA in the patients with T2DM (P≤0.05). GCBT was effective in improving the PS and the DSCA of the patients with T2DM. The GCBT intervention with the protocol used in this study effectively increased PS and DSCA in patients with T2DM. Conclusion: Therefore, GCBT can be used along with drug treatments for patients with T2DM. In addition, it is recommended that planners design programs based on this research to improve the PS and the DSCA of patients with T2DM.},

title = {Parental Grief After Child Homicide in Iran: Challenges and Integrated Intervention Development},
abstract ={Objective: Parents who lose a child due to a human factor, such as intentional homicide, experience profound and excruciating grief. The model of complicated grief is heavily influenced by culture, and this influence is even more pronounced in cases of grief resulting from homicide, which is tied to the criminal justice system—the present study aimed to conceptualize homicide-related grief in two phases. In the first phase, the researcher sought to understand the nature of grief among this group of bereaved parents. In the second phase, based on the qualitative analysis of the findings, an integrated intervention was developed to address the specific needs of these survivors and the content validity was assessed by specialists. Methods: This qualitative study employed a phenomenological approach and included parents who had lost their children to homicide. Participants were selected through purposive sampling from judicial courts in Gilan Province, Iran and the sample size was determined based on the data saturation criteria. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, and the analysis followed Colaizzi’s seven-step method. Results: Qualitative analysis of the interviews in the first phase identified three main themes—intrapersonal, interpersonal, and unfamiliar context—along with 45 subthemes. In the second phase, an integrative homicide bereavement intervention (IHBI) was developed, consisting of three stages and 18 sessions. The content validity index and content validity ratio were 0.98 and 0.84, respectively. Conclusion: Bereaved parents who have lost a child to homicide face unique challenges that disrupt the healthy processing of grief-related emotions and significantly hinder their ability to carry out grief-related tasks. Based on the findings of this study, a specialized integrative grief intervention was developed to address the distinct needs of this group of survivors. The evaluation of expert opinions on this intervention indicates that it possesses acceptable content validity and can be utilized by therapists working with these survivors in judicial and law enforcement organizations.},

title = {Childhood Trauma and Identity Disturbance in Male Adolescents: Emotion Regulation and Executive Function as Mediators},
abstract ={Objective: The present study examined the mediating role of emotion regulation difficulties and executive function deficits in the relationship between childhood traumas and identity disturbance in adolescent boys. Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study utilizes a correlational design employing structural equation modeling. A sample of 311 adolescent boys from Yazd City, Iran, was included in the study (mean age=16.95 years) and selected through convenience and purposive sampling. Data were collected through a childhood trauma questionnaire (CTQ), difficulties in emotion regulation scale (DERS) (short form), cognitive abilities questionnaire and adolescent identity development questionnaire. Results: The final model indicated that the direct relationship between childhood trauma and identity disturbance was not significant. Instead, this relationship was mediated by executive function deficits and difficulties in emotion regulation. The direct relationship between childhood trauma and emotion regulation difficulty was not significant; instead, childhood trauma affected difficulties in emotion regulation through the mediation of executive function deficits. Therefore, in the relationship between childhood trauma and identity disturbance, emotion regulation functioned as a second-order mediating variable. Conclusion: Considering emotion regulation and executive functions in designing preventive and therapeutic interventions can be beneficial when working with adolescents experiencing identity disturbance and childhood traumatic experiences.},

title = {The Effectiveness of “Active Aging” Intervention on the Hope and Worry of Retired Women: A Quasi-experimental Study},
abstract ={Objective: Active aging promotes optimal health, social participation, and well-being in older adults. This study examined the effectiveness of an active aging intervention on the levels of hope and worry among retired women. We assessed whether this training can significantly enhance hope and reduce worry in older women. Methods: A quasi-experimental design with a control group was employed in a study involving 59 retired women residing in Tehran, Iran. Participants were selected using convenience sampling and randomly assigned to the intervention and control groups. The adult hope scale (AHS), Penn state worry questionnaire (PSWQ), and Sharkey’s physical activity questionnaire were administered before and after the intervention. We used analysis of covariance for data analysis. Results: The intervention significantly increased hope (pre-test: 27.21±8.65 vs post-test: 32.60±5.49) and physical activity (pre-test: 12.12±4.17 vs post-test: 17.54±4.23). In contrast, it reduced worry (pre-test: 52.27±8.45 vs post-test: 47.10±7.35) compared to the control group, hope (pre-test: 26.33±9.72 vs post-test: 27.12±6.31), physical activity (pre-test: 15.25±6.38 vs post-test: 13.33±5.20), and worry (pre-test: 53.43±8.15 vs post-test: 51.31±7.61). Multivariate analysis of covariance revealed significant differences after the intervention (P<0.001) in all three variables. Conclusion: Active aging interventions effectively enhance hope, reduce worry, and promote physical activity in older women, supporting their broader implementation in health promotion programs.},

abstract ={Objective: The present study examines the mediating role of resilience in the relationship between co-dependency and interpersonal cognitive distortions with addiction readiness in adolescents. Methods: This research employed a descriptive-correlational design and utilized path analysis. Using a multistage cluster sampling method, 200 male high school students aged 15–18 years from Abadan City, Iran, were selected. Research instruments included the Weed and Butcher addiction readiness scale (1992), Connor-Davidson resilience scale (2003), Hamamci and Büyüköztürk’s interpersonal cognitive distortions questionnaire (2004), and Spann and Fischer co-dependency questionnaire (1990). Results: Path analysis revealed that both co-dependency and interpersonal cognitive distortions had significant positive relationships with addiction readiness. Additionally, resilience demonstrated a significant negative relationship with addiction readiness. Indirect effects analysis showed that resilience significantly mediated the relationship between co-dependency and addiction readiness, but did not mediate the relationship between interpersonal cognitive distortions and addiction readiness. Conclusion: Co-dependency and interpersonal cognitive distortions may act as risk factors for addiction readiness in adolescents. Moreover, resilience can attenuate the effect of co-dependency on addiction readiness. These results can inform the design of preventive programs aimed at enhancing resilience and addressing maladaptive interpersonal beliefs among adolescents.},

abstract ={Objective: This study examines the relationships between attachment styles and responsibility in male and female adolescents while considering the mediating role of emotion regulation. Methods: This study employed a descriptive-correlational research design using path analysis. Our statistical population comprised all high school students (second level) in Tehran City, Iran. Following Kline’s (2016) recommendations, 353 students were selected through random sampling of the multi-stage cluster. Assessment tools included the revised adult attachment scale, the emotion regulation questionnaire for children and adolescents, and the personal responsibility assessment. The data were analyzed using the AMOS software, version 24.0, with maximum likelihood estimations. Results: The findings revealed a positive and significant indirect path coefficient between secure attachment style and responsibility through reappraisal strategies (β=0.105, P=0.001) and suppression (β=0.091, P=0.001). The indirect path coefficient between avoidant attachment style and responsibility through reappraisal strategies (β=-0.099, P=0.001) and suppression (β=-0.068, P=0.007) showed negative and significant associations. Similarly, the indirect path coefficient between ambivalent attachment style and responsibility through reappraisal strategies (β=-0.105, P=0.001) and suppression (β=-0.065, P=0.012) demonstrated negative and significant relationships. Conclusion: The structural model exhibited an equivalent fit for both male and female groups. abstract ={Objective: Stroke is a brain injury caused by damage to the blood vessels in the central nervous system, often resulting in cognitive impairments, including memory issues. With the increasing number of stroke survivors, the demand for effective rehabilitation services is also increasing. This study evaluates the effectiveness of working memory training in mitigating cognitive failure and memory difficulties in stroke patients. Methods: This quasi-experimental study involved 36 stroke patients from medical centers in Urmia City, Iran, and was conducted in October 2023. The participants were randomly assigned to two groups as follows: An experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received a total of ten 60-min training sessions twice a week, while the control group participated in the same number of sessions, focusing on physical exercise without any specific intervention. Data collection tools included the cognitive failures questionnaire, which evaluates the frequency of cognitive lapses in daily activities, such as attention, memory, and action failures, and the Wechsler memory scale, which assesses different aspects of memory performance. Both groups underwent pre-tests and post-tests, and the data were analyzed using the SPSS software, version 26, with a significance level of P≤0.05. Results: Before the intervention, no significant differences in memory span or cognitive failure were observed. However, post-intervention results indicated a significant improvement in the experimental group (P≤0.05). Conclusion: Working memory rehabilitation significantly enhanced cognitive functioning and memory in stroke patients.},

abstract ={Objective: This study aimed to develop a structural model explaining self-harm based on cognitive emotion regulation and childhood trauma, with the mediating role of attachment styles among students in Ardabil City, Iran. Methods: This applied study, in terms of its objective, employed a descriptive-correlational research design, utilizing structural equation modeling. The exogenous variables were cognitive emotion regulation and childhood trauma, while self-harm served as the endogenous variable, with insecure attachment styles functioning as the mediating variable. The statistical population consisted of secondary school students aged 15 to 18 residing in Ardabil during the fall semester of the 2024 academic year. The research instruments included the self-harm inventory (SHI), cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire, childhood trauma questionnaire (CTQ), and attachment styles scales (ASS). Results: The results indicated that insecure attachment styles had a significant positive effect on self-harm (β=0.534; P<0.01). Also, cognitive emotion regulation exerted a significant negative effect on self-harm (β=-0.488; P<0.001), whereas childhood trauma had a significant positive effect on self-harm (β=0.462; P<0.001). Additionally, cognitive emotion regulation (β=0.277; P<0.05) and childhood trauma (β=0.233; P<0.05) had a significant indirect effect on self-harm through the mediation of insecure attachment styles. Conclusion: The findings suggest that childhood trauma and deficiencies in cognitive emotion regulation affect self-harm among students with insecure attachment styles, playing a mediating role. These results highlight the importance of cognitive-emotional mechanisms and attachment experiences in both the prevention and better understanding of self-harm behaviors.},

abstract ={Objective: The present study aimed to compare the effectiveness of reality therapy and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) on the health locus of control (internal, powerful others, and chance) in women with type 2 diabetes. Methods: This quasi-experimental research employed a pre-test, post-test and a two-month follow-up design with a control group. The statistical population of the study included all women with type 2 diabetes visiting the specialized diabetes clinic in Pardis, Shiraz City, Iran in 2024. A total of 45 eligible participants were selected for the study. They included females participants aged 40 to 60 years, with at least one year since the diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. They were randomly assigned to two experimental groups and one control group. The experimental groups underwent 12 sessions of 90 minutes of reality therapy and 12 sessions of 90 minutes of DBT, while the control group received no intervention. The health locus of control questionnaire was used to assess the three groups at three stages: Pre-test, post-test, and follow-up. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and mixed analysis of variance methods. Results: The results showed a significant difference in the mean scores of health locus of control between the experimental groups and the control group. The Bonferroni post hoc test results yielded a significant difference between the control group and the experimental groups at the post-test and follow-up stages. However, the results suggested that the difference between the two experimental groups, reality therapy and DBT, was not statistically significant at the post-test and follow-up stages (P>0.05). Nevertheless, the mean difference suggested that reality therapy led to an increase in internal health control and control by powerful others, while reducing chance control in patients. However, this difference was not statistically significant. Conclusion: Considering the study results regarding the effectiveness of reality therapy and DBT in increasing health locus of control in women with type 2 diabetes, their use is recommended for promoting appropriate health control in women with type 2 diabetes.},

title = {Shocked Parents: Examining the Challenges of Parents With Children At-risk of Specific Learning Disabilities},
abstract ={Objective: Neurodevelopmental or cognitive disorders in children pose significant challenges to family functioning. The present study investigates the challenges faced by parents of children at risk of specific learning disabilities (SLD). Methods: This study, based on qualitative research and a phenomenological approach, explored and deeply recognized the lived experiences of parents facing challenges related to children referred for specialized testing. Parents’ perspectives were examined using a purposeful sampling method and semi-structured interviews. Data saturation was reached after 23 interviews, ensuring comprehensive data collection. The data were organized and analyzed based on the Colaizzi (1987) method. Qualitative research criteria, such as participant validation, independent coding, and evaluator reliability, were applied to ensure data validity. Results: The findings highlighted six fundamental challenges as follows: “Feeling helpless,” “neglect of individual needs,” “fear of the future,” “feeling defenseless,” “feeling guilty,” and “lack of competence.” Meanwhile, the two following themes emerged: “Weakness in parenting skills” and “emotional dysregulation,” which are considered potential underlying factors contributing to these challenges. Conclusion: The challenges faced by the participating parents are largely due to contextual factors. Many parents feel overwhelmed and isolated due to their lack of awareness of parenting strategies and emotional management during critical situations. These underlying factors, functioning as a vicious cycle, lead to negative consequences and additional psychological issues within the family, contributing to the development of disorders in children. Therefore, the development of structured and specialized training for parents of children at risk of neurodevelopmental disorders appears to be essential.},

abstract ={Objective: Although the relationship between childhood trauma and the presence of substance use tendencies (SUT) has been proven worldwide, little Iranian-based evidence exists. Nonetheless, this study is the first to empirically test such a correlation in a sample population of Iranian university students with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms, emotion dysregulation, and impulsivity serving as mediators of this relationship. Methods: A group of 766 Iranian university students (33.4% male and 66.6 % female; mean age=24.89) was asked to complete the validated questionnaires, which featured the childhood trauma questionnaire-short form (CTQ-SF), difficulties in emotion regulation scale (DERS), addiction potential scale (APS), short UPPS-P impulsive behavior scale (SUPPS-P), and posttraumatic stress disorder checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5). Analyses were performed using structural equation modeling (SEM). Results: Childhood trauma was strongly related to greater impulsivity, emotional dysregulation, PTSD symptoms, and SUT. These psychological factors significantly mediate childhood trauma in SUT. Conclusion: These results underscore the necessity of developing specific interventions that would focus on impulsivity, emotional dysregulation, and PTSD symptoms, to decrease the risk of SUT among Iranian university students with a history of childhood trauma.},

title = {Predicting Childhood OCD Symptoms: The Mediating Effect of Self-concept on Religiosity, Guilt, and Parental Perfectionism},
abstract ={Objective: This study aimed to develop and test a structural model predicting obsessive–compulsive symptoms in children based on parental religious adherence, guilt, and perfectionism, with the mediating role of children’s self-concept. Methods: A correlational design using structural equation modeling (SEM) was conducted with 240 elementary school children and their mothers in Yazd Province, Iran, during the 2023–2024 academic year. Participants were selected using convenience sampling. Standardized questionnaires, including the obsessive beliefs questionnaire for children and adolescents, religious adherence questionnaire, guilt questionnaire, Frost multidimensional perfectionism questionnaire, and children’s self-concept questionnaire, were administered. Results: SEM analysis revealed that children’s self-concept significantly mediated the relationship between parental religious adherence, guilt, perfectionism, and obsessive–compulsive symptoms. The model showed acceptable fit indices, supporting the hypothesized relationships. Conclusion: The findings highlight the critical role of parental factors and self-concept in shaping children’s mental health. This study contributes theoretically by clarifying the cognitive–emotional mechanisms linking family dynamics to obsessive–compulsive vulnerability. Practical implications suggest the need for family-based interventions that strengthen children’s self-concept, while future research should address longitudinal designs and diverse populations},

title = {Effectiveness of an Attachment-based Family Program on Emotional Awareness and Social Desirability in High School Students},
abstract ={Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of an attachment-based family program in enhancing emotional awareness and social desirability among male high school students. Methods: A quasi-experimental design, incorporating pre-test, post-test, and follow-up assessments with a control group, was employed. The study population comprised all male second-grade high school students in Karun County, Iran, during the 2023-2024 academic year. Through purposive sampling, 30 eligible students exhibiting low emotional awareness and social desirability were selected and subsequently randomized into an experimental group (n=15) or a control group (n=15). The experimental group participated in an 11-session attachment-based family program, carefully designed to enhance family dynamics, communication, and emotional regulation. Data were collected using the emotional awareness questionnaire (EAQ-30) and social desirability scale (SDS). For data analysis, SPSS software, version 27 was utilized, primarily employing mixed-model analysis of variance with repeated measures. Results: The findings revealed significant improvements in both emotional awareness and social desirability within the experimental group at post-test and follow-up stages compared to the control group (P<0.001). Conclusion: These results suggest that attachment-based family programs are an effective intervention for promoting emotional awareness and social desirability in adolescents. Consequently, its implementation in family counseling settings is supported, offering a valuable strategy to mitigate common adolescent challenges.},

title = {The Effectiveness of Time Perspective Intervention on Quality of Life and Brain Behavioral Systems in a Group of Obese and Overweight Women},
abstract ={Objective: Obesity and overweight in women profoundly impact multiple aspects of quality of life (QoL) and brain-behavioral systems. Consequently, implementing effective interventions is crucial to mitigate the negative effects of obesity. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of time perspective (TP) on these facets in obese and overweight women. Methods: This quasi-experimental study utilized a pre-test-post-test design with control and follow-up groups. The participants included 21 overweight and obese women aged 18 to 48, with a body mass index (BMI) over 24, who attended the Amin Counseling Center at the Islamic Azad University, Bojnourd Branch, in 2024. Participants were purposefully selected and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group received six sessions of TP treatment, each lasting 90 minutes. The instruments used in this study were the World Health Organization QoL (WHOQOL-BREF) and behavioral inhibition/activation scales (Carver and Wright, 1994). Data were analyzed using repeated-measures analysis of variance with SPSS software, version 26. Results: The findings revealed that the experimental group exhibited significant improvements in QoL and behavioral inhibition and activation scores compared to the control group (P<0.05). Furthermore, follow-up results indicated that these improvements were sustained over time. Conclusion: This study demonstrated the significant positive impact of TP intervention on QoL and behavioral brain functions in obese and overweight women, highlighting both immediate and lasting benefits. These findings suggest that TP can be a valuable intervention for enhancing QoL and behavioral function in this population. },

title = {A Causal Model of Death Anxiety in the Elderly: Emotion Regulation,Meaning in Life, and Resilience},
abstract ={Objective: This study aimed to design a causal model of death anxiety based on cognitive emotion regulation strategies and meaning in life, with resilience serving as a mediator among the elderly population of Tehran Province, Iran. Methods: This study employed a descriptive-correlational design within the framework of structural equation modeling (SEM). A sample of 384 older adults was selected using convenience sampling. Data were collected using the Templer death anxiety scale (DAS) (1970), Connor–Davidson resilience scale (CD-RISC) (2003), cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire (CERQ) developed by Garnefski and Kraaij (2006), and meaning in life questionnaire (MLQ) by Steger et al. (2006). Analyses were performed using SPSS software, version 22.0 and AMOS software, version 24.0. Results: The results revealed an acceptable model fit with the data (χ²/df=2.88, comparative fit index [CFI]=0.942, goodness of fit index [GFI]=0.903, adjusted goodness-of-fit index [AGFI]=0.856, root mean square error of approximation [RMSEA]=0.070). Direct path coefficients indicated significant negative relationships between cognitive emotion regulation (β=–0.222, P<0.01), meaning in life (β=–0.222, P<0.001), and resilience (β=–0.381, P<0.001) and death anxiety. Moreover, the indirect effects of resilience were also statistically significant. Conclusion: These findings highlight the mediating role of resilience in the relationship between psychological variables and death anxiety. Overall, the results underscore the importance of resilience and the meaning of life in mitigating death anxiety among older adults.},

title = {Compassion-focused Therapy Effectively Reduces Self-criticism, Negative Thoughts, and Enhances Forgiveness in Women Post-marital infidelity},
abstract ={Objective: Marital infidelity often leads to significant psychological distress, including diminished self-esteem, depression, and anxiety, profoundly affecting women’s mental well-being. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of compassion-focused therapy (CFT) in enhancing forgiveness and reducing self-criticism and repetitive negative thoughts among women impacted by marital infidelity in Ahvaz City, Iran. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a pre-test and post-test design, including a control group, was conducted. Thirty married women affected by marital infidelity, recruited via convenience sampling from counseling centers in Ahvaz City (January–March 2025), were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n=15) or a control group (n=15). The experimental group received eight 90-minute CFT sessions twice a week, while the control group received no intervention. Data were collected using the forgiveness scale (FS), self-criticism levels scale, and repetitive thoughts questionnaire (RTQ) and analyzed using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) in SPSS software, version 27. Results: CFT led to a significant increase in forgiveness and a notable reduction in self-criticism and repetitive negative thoughts in the experimental group compared to the control group (P<0.001). The observed effects were substantial, with large effect sizes across all measures (forgiveness: ηp2=0.71, Cohen’s d=1.92; self-criticism: ηp2=0.78, Cohen’s d=2.34; repetitive negative thoughts: ηp2=0.69, Cohen’s d=1.85). Conclusion: CFT is an effective intervention for improving the psychological well-being of women affected by marital infidelity, promoting forgiveness and reducing negative cognitive patterns.},

title = {High-frequency Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for Treatment-resistant Social Anxiety Disorder: A Case Report and Literature Review},
abstract ={Objective: Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is characterized by an intense fear of social evaluation and marked avoidance of social situations. Methods: We report a 25-year-old woman with a two-year history of diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders, 5th edition (DSM-5)–diagnosed, treatment-resistant SAD who declined psychotherapy and did not respond to pharmacotherapy. She received 15 sessions of high-frequency (10 Hz) repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) to the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) (100% motor threshold; 40 trains; 2,000 pulses per session). Results: Symptom severity measured by the social phobia inventory (SPIN), decreased from 59 (baseline) to 27 (post-treatment) and remained at 33 at the three-month follow-up. Clinician-rated clinical global impression (CGI) scores corroborated this substantial improvement. No adverse events were observed. Conclusion: We place this case in the context of prior reports that used different targets and polarities (e.g. inhibitory medial prefrontal protocols) and discuss the possible mechanisms by which excitatory left DLPFC stimulation may modulate fronto-limbic circuits involved in social threat processing. This single case is hypothesis-generating: while the results are encouraging, limitations include the uncontrolled design, reliance on a primary self-report outcome, and limited follow-up. Controlled trials with standardized clinician ratings and multimodal imaging are required to confirm efficacy and elucidate mechanisms. },

title = {Effectiveness of Schema Therapy in Improving Defense Mechanisms and Mental Health in Patients With Acne Vulgaris},
abstract ={Objective: Acne vulgaris is one of the most common dermatological conditions and is often associated with mental health issues and immature defense mechanisms. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of schema therapy in improving defense styles and mental health in patients with acne vulgaris. Methods: In a quasi-experimental design with pre-test-post-test and a ontrol group, 28 participants were selected through purposive sampling from dermatology clinics in northeastern Tehran in 2024. The participants were randomly assigned to either an experimental (n=14) or a control group (n=14). Participants completed the defense style questionnaire (DSQ-40) and symptom checklist-90 (SCL-90) before and after the intervention. The experimental group received 12 schema therapy sessions. Results: The results of the analysis of covariance showed that schema therapy significantly improved interpersonal sensitivity, hostility, and paranoid ideation (dimensions of SCL-90), as well as mature and neurotic defense styles (P<0.05). Conclusion: Schema therapy can reduce the use of neurotic defense mechanism and foster the use of mature defense mechanism in patients with acne vulgaris. It can also improve the patients’ mental health (reducing interpersonal sensitivity, hostility, and paranoid ideation).},
